Sailing under the Dutch flag aboard the Half Moon, Henry Hudson explored America's east coast from the Chesapeake Bay to the Arctic.
His accounts of the land's richness led to the Dutch colonization of early America. From this Dutch heritage sprang much of our religious, philosophical, and governmental ideals including the concepts of freedom of religion and separation of Church and State.
Plans and information made available by the New Netherlands Museum, Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
Working on the miniature scale of 1/16 inch to the foot the resulting carving is 6 inches long.
