"Queen H," as she is known today, ruled Egypt from 1500 B.C. to 1480 B.C..
Peace and domestic tranquility prevailed during her reign. She revived and made famous the great "Voyages to the Land of Punt" - an eastern seaboard country on the east African coast. The ship was all wood and only lightly decorated with the lotus flower on the stern. The 5 black dots beneath the stern castle are decorative but of unknown significance to Egyptologists. See the "Punt Ship of Pharaoh Sahure" in the Warther collection for more information about Punt voyages in the ancient Egyptian world. Round trip voyages to Punt took several years to complete.
