El Omari

Year: 2000 BC
Category: Ancient
Vessel Type:
Scale: 1/8" = 1 foot
Overall Length: 60 feet

An Egyptian passenger ship of 2000 B.C.. By this time Middle Kingdom ships often featured rounded spoon shaped hulls but many still sported the bipod and tripod masts. Here we see the rounded hull in the 12th Dynasty coupled with a rig that remained unchanged for many centuries and was seen on the Nile some 500 years prior to this time.
